Duration: 25 minutes

Book and Pencil are two 3D scanned clay objects. They have been stripped of their original function and find themselves in a monochrome green landscape.

Book and Pencil try to relate to their surroundings, each seeking solace from each other in their own way. Pencil does so by constantly starting conversations while Book finds peace in distillation. The conversations, which are initially light-hearted and humorous, express Pencil's longing for connection and recognition, but mostly cause irritation for Book.

The scenes in the green world are interspersed with images of a blue sky with cloud formations. Besides the blue and green, the film takes us to two other places: the black and white of the night, where the longing for recognition resonates through a choir, which gives voice to both confusion and comfort. And then the red cinema, the final stop. The act of looking is highlighted as a key moment to resolve the tension between Pencil and Book.

The film is rooted in Albert Camus’s book: Le Mythe de Sisyphe.
